On my Heritage 2024 the belly has a plastic cover. There is a flap for the oil change area. You take out one bolt and pull the flap back to access the filter and drain. The flap has a crease designed to fold the flap back. I just used a string to hold it out of the way during the procedure. No...
I read somewhere you could get the rest of the oil to drain if you elevate one side a bit more. Anyone know which side? I don't see the point in paying a crapload of money for a new oil pan.
Yes, but it's 'octane equivalent.' Octane in a chemical sense is a molecule made up of a chain of 8 carbon atoms, each atom having the rest of it's bonds connected to hydrogen atoms. That's it. So refiners have ways to 'distill' fuel to a high percentage of this, but there is always some non...
Of course, yes, premium is higher octane rating. Higher octane has less 'volatiles' that predetenate at higher compression. On our boosted Z's this is a concern. Most modern cars have a knock sensor that detects predetenation and retard the spark timing to reduce it. When you retard timing, you...
I saw a youtube video of some quarter mile comparisons. They didn't do so well without premium, but switched over and saw vast improvement. So I conclude the car will run fine on cheaper stuff, but if you are needing top performance, use the expensive stuff. For daily driving, it's not a big deal.
This is not directly addressing your questions. But I have noticed that the stock wheel is not perfectly centered on the steering axis. You will notice that the radius is smaller on the bottom than on the top. You can see this as you roll through a turn if you watch the top of the wheel it will...
I agree with pretty much everything you said except for the issue with the cruise control. Every manual transmission car I've ever had would disengage the cruise control when you hit the clutch. It is by design.
Personally though, I prefer the simpler experience of the Z. All bells and whistles...
I just got my 2024 performance z manual. I got a barely used one (1000 miles) for $45K. I'm very pleased with it. Took me awhile to decide. Like you, I was looking at other stuff before deciding. Manual transmission was a requirement. On my shopping list was the BMW Z4 (or Supra), Subaru BRZ...
Interesting tidbit I had to figure out about the tow hook. I have a heritage with the different style front bumper. The tow hook goes in a threaded block behind the grill on the passenger side of the car. You can't get the tow hook through the grill. However, looking closely, I discovered there...
