Well the GT-R is getting more and more hardcore with updates. And they just revealed the 370z convertible NISMO concept. So I wouldn't say they're going soft really. But they are getting financially savvier (in their eyes) but focusing more on the core models which make them the bulk of their...
Totally agree about losing Andy Palmer. Gotta wonder what came first tho. I think Nissan felt he had too many big risky plans and got rid of him instead of the other way around.
It looks more like the Nissan sports concept than I thought the final design would.
It's too bad they didn't show the Z, but it would have been a really weird way of revealing a sports car.
Aluminum is still not predominantly used in cars around this price point. You get the mustang which has an aluminum hood and i think a few parts here and there but it's still too expensive I thnk. One area of savings woud be a smaller engine though. Probably won't see a V8 in the Z.
COmpanies sometimes like to drop the bomb with a complete surprise. Or they go the other way and tease really early, which it's probably too late to do now. So fingers crossed for a complete surprise from detroit next week.
The cargo space needs to be dramatically improved but if the rumors about a return to a smaller, lighter car that may not happen.
The 370Z has 6.9cu.ft. max cargo and a completely useless trunk. It's a sports car so yea it is forgivable to an extent but the interior is just way too cramped when...
Nissan should definitely NOT follow Toyota with how they've treated their FR-S. First they gave it a Scion badge. If they gave it a Toyota badge it would have even more respect and buyers. I konw plenty of guys who won't consider that car just because of the badge but who mighta bought a Toyota...
I see two possibilities right now for the future of the Z.
1) it returns to be a smaller, lighter, and more true to it's roots Z
2) hiatus from production..... again.
What do you think is most likely?
Detroit is a bigger venue to drop something as major as the next Z but we haven't heard ANYTHING. I mean total radio silence that this car is even coming...
We find out tomorrow. My guess is no.
Most companies do online teasers now whenever they are going to show something at a show, even if its just concept form.
