That's the rumor, I heard the main reason is they can source the inline turbo 6 from Mazda, which is a very stout motor, and make it a full in house JDM car.
For someone like me it did matter that the Z was actually a JDM sports car unlike the Supra.

Plus the whole "Retro but modern" is a very Japanese thing. Their cities, their culture.... etc. It's in this generation of Z.

I think if Toyota goes back to making the Supra an actual JDM that will sway some people for sure.

Great review, I think he nailed the character of the car. Now that the days of dealer markup are over, this car is an absolute winner!

It's not trying to be a tech modern car. The emphasis was retro throwback. It wasn't trying to be track behemoth. But... they laid the foundation for it to be modded to max it for what you want it to be. A joyful car that puts a smile on your face and recieve praise from onlookers. Just last night another driver shouted at me "hey I like your car" .
