Protection. May not look like much or seem silly, but these cars will be in transport for a while and they try to protect certain parts of the body, wheels, brakes, etc. as much as possible.

I know I’m stating to sound like a broken record, but it seems that they are now mass producing the car. Every day we have a sighting with one, two or three on the back of a truck now…all wrapped up and protected for a buyer?
it’s gotta be getting close to go time…surely

The first thing Nissan will do with initial production (assuming they have confidence in the car) is get a bunch of these to first drive events for the journalists in Japan and USA/Canada. Hopefully we will see those happening in March/April.

I’m hoping Feb March since they are on the trucks already….I’m hoping by April they are starting to trickle into dealers

I agree. There's been way more cars being shipped than I'd expect to see if they were just sending cars for journalist reviews. If this is the case would could see deliveries starting in April.

I'm only just seeing this now but GAH DAYUM do I love it in this gun metallic.
I truly wish gun metallic had this much blue in it IRL, it would make a paint choice a no-brainer for me.
It looks like they might've add more/different flake colors in the paint to bring out the bluish hue we've been seeing. In all these pictures and videos of it in the sun the paint looks like it's glowing. It's possible that they did the same to the other paints as well. Overall it looks a bit different than the gun metallic from the 370Z.

If you look back to this picture you can actually even see the flake in the paint on the nose where the light is shining directly onto it.

Versus a gun metallic 370Z. Granted it's different lighting, but direct lighting none-the-less, and you don't see much flake.

Time will tell, but the blue tint seems most likely to be due to colour balance settings being off in the phone cameras used. The ostensibly white concrete walls behind the Z in that Instagram video above also have a weird bluish tint.
