I asked a question on a website what the difference between Face 1, 2 and 3 was for a particular wheel I’m interested in and this is what they sent me

I assume that’s a section cut through the wheel and it shows the different concavity correct?

correct. In this picture the lug nuts go where it says "face-1" etc, the tyre is seated on the bead at the top right of the picture, and you can see the different sizes and shapes of the rims / lips / dish there.

Your brake caliper will therefore fit in the space underneath the curve in this diagram
