No doubt this is a contributing cause. It makes the Z and Supra more attractive. Assuming no dealer markup, something sporty (that can be occasionally tracked) in the low 50's, new with warranty is something to really think about.
I'd think if I really had to get something, a used Cayman for...
Have you looked at the price of used Caymans recently? I had this thought too, but good luck finding a used 718 Cayman S under $70k. You can maybe find a used Cayman base (non S model) for $50-60k. It's getting dumb out there right now in this market.
For the price of a used Cayman these days...
I drove up from Austin to go see it. It looks stunning in person. The blue is 100% the best color. The car looks noticeably longer then my 370z in person, but in a good way. More balanced looking, less stubby.
That article is testing a non sport model with the smaller tires.
Here is an article from 2009 testing the sport package 370z with 0.97G on the skidpad

I would think the new Z is north of 1G on the skidpad with more...
The 370z must have gotten slower over the years… When it first came out all of the reviews were getting 0-60 in 4.7-4.8 seconds.
I’m optimistic that it’s 85% of 4.7 which would put new Z at around 3.9-4.0 seconds
I saw the white Z 2 days ago driving through Tennessee about an hour east of Nashville. It was heading the opposite direction from me on the freeway so unfortunately I didn’t have time to snap a pic.
interesting. I’ll have to check to see what my 370z says on the sticker. If there is no spare in the back I wonder what’s under the carpet in the hatch? From the pics it doesn’t look like they lowered the floor at all. I can’t imagine they’d just leave it empty.
I would like to know if the rear hatch contains a full size spare like the 370z. I can’t seem to find any info. The specs don’t seem to say one way or another. If they ditched the spare it could save 20-30 lbs.
I’m hopeful about the new Z addressing the 370z’s short comings. I recently had a chance to drive a friends Boss 302 mustang. Amazing car all around, but I came away feeling like the steering was numb / vague and the chassis was less communicative then my Z. At the limit it felt much more sure...
I’ve daily driven a 370z for the past 9 years so I’m qualified to answer this. I’d say it’s a great handling car for the street. Steering is tight, very communicative, predictable and fairly balanced with a hint of understeer. Power is linear and builds with RPMs. It’s fun to rev out to 7600...
Weight reduction would be nice but the only way for Nissan to do that without major changes to the chassis would be carbon fiber panels. That would push the price too high for the Z. You can get 500hp DCT mid-engined C8 for under $60k (at least in theory). That’s the upper limit $ for the Z. The...
