At this point most of us know the non-Nismo RZ34 really disappoints when pushed hard and Misha just confirms that, being so familiar w the Ring AND the hundreds of cars he's driven to compare with. Main reason I bought it was the Nissan blood and heritage styling, gorgeous, not the overdone...
 but at the time no Manual Nismo, deal breaker for me, even though the rest of the car, suspension, brakes etc are already top notch, except the Dunlops. Let's see if Misha 'rings' out the new Nismo MT, could be my next bite.
But I know with just a FEW critical upgrades - brakes, sways, springs/coilovers AND proper alignment - the RZ34 will wake up! It is what it is to begin with, poorly spec'ed as factory delivered. Should at least put some of the Nismo bits on it, will be night and day difference. And the power is...
Exactly, and with his tons of experiences on this long 'Ring track, really taxed the Z and right away tires and brakes were really disappointing as we all know, those terrible S007s and lack of brake cooling plus pads/fluids. It's totally expected, and sad like he said. I'd like to see him push...
Nice share and observations plus perfect long road trip getting to know your new Nismo MT. I wonder if the new manual is improved over the current manual, gearing and feel, and the clutch action.
Incredibly sad for your Bayside Z! What are the chances, but glad you're OK and not in the car, airbags didn't deploy. Got to replace the Z, time for the Nismo Manual from the insurance settlement, I'm sure you can claim many of the upgrades in that Z. Status updates on the outcome. Just Wow!!
I think they owe you free next oil change or a refund, since you had to drain and re-fill on your own dime. Go for that when revisiting them, esp since you know them well.
Dealer owns and is responsible for that drastic performance drop. They must provide you with the written invoice and oil/filter used. Very baffling but scary thought! Did they use a much heavier weight oil? Go back to them and let us know. Some dealers here in warm CA have used 5W30 and approved...
Great comparisons, you've pushed them enough on tracks. I'm about to get baselines next month at AZ Firebird Raceway, stock power but suspension sort of set up with springs and coilovers, plus 200TW RE71RZ square 285s, pads XP12/10 and Motul fluid. Expecting heat soak at that location but I can...
Well, I'll be bumping redline often at ZCON next month track day, for now varying RPMs locally since I'm only at about 3.5K miles on the 6MT. Looking forward, but will monitor brakes and heat soak mainly in hot AZ.
Planning to add the CZP hopefully before next track day, Sept coming up fast! How long did it take you for the complete install, any gotchas, mods to mount it, fluid capacity? Thx.
Edit: Just saw the PDF installation guide, my guess 6-8 hrs? What do you use to vacuum pressure the coolant?
One of the things more people are starting to realize, and some tell me that, is that the new Z's bloodline is still pure and very much analog, appreciated in today's overly electronic assisted automotive world. Heck more and more are wanting manual audio and HVAC dials and column stalks instead...
Posted this before, current track setup, 19x10.5 square with 285/35 works fine. 18s should be similar. The +23 on these Nismo V2s are just about the max at front, even with 1.1" lowered giving slightly more neg camber. Rears have plenty of room, can run 295 or maybe 305 fine. Tire sizes can...
Their key ingredient is Espinosa, he's a total car enthusiast, understands Nissan's heritage and sees a lot of that in its future. We know sports cars/coupes aren't the best sellers but drawing interest back to Nissan is hugely critical. The Z, future GTR, Skyline/Infiniti etc hopefully revives...
