Yeah it is two clips, top left and bottom right. I was also nervous about breaking it. Almost stopped, but it just did not make sense to me it would not come off, so I pulled harder and it came off. Right you are about the end. It is an arrow and does seem like it can be pinched close to pull out.

Ordered and fit a Mishimoto Tow Hook to my Nismo Z. Was not sure if it would clear but it does. Not by much but enough to not hit anything.

I had the same question about the tow hook. Baffled how it is not included. I took the risk and bought a Mishimoto tow hook to test fit. It just clears. Odd how the front part is clipped on. It looks like I can remove it with some effort but don't want to break it off. See pictures below.
