Bear in mind the camo car’s fascia is awkwardly taped up. But that’s not at issue if it is the Fairlady’s grille since we’ve already seen it undisguised. That said, I’ve circled the gaping maw, a much larger concern (figuratively AND literally) than the minor cut line differences in the...
Me too… tastefully modded G37S Coupe 6MT. It sounds like you too have a fun ride that requires no apologies and will entertain until the Z has widespread availability. Let’s hope for a Sport + LSD + brakes for $46K and a $60K Nismo. We’ll see.
It does appear to be the Fairlady Z’s front fascia which drastically improves the look of the Z’s front end. If we’re lucky it’ll be the standard front fascia for all cars. If we’re REALLY lucky it’ll be the front fascia of the upcoming Nismo.
The guy who wrote this article seems a bit out of touch as many have noted. As an owner of a G37S Coupe 6MT, an under-the-skin twin of the 370Z on which the Z is based, here’s my thoughts. First, Nissan is and has been financially strapped for a long time so I never felt a lot of $$$ would be...
Sure, looks are generally subjective, but when an obviously attractive woman stands next to one who is obviously not, looks become decidedly… OBjective. As for your anecdotal experience with your BMW, you’ve done very well, but it’s so well documented with tons of data that we already know in...
A cash-strapped Nissan knew they’d sell every $52K Performance model they can make, at least in the first full year of production because they can’t make that many (for now). As the newness wears off, few will want the Sport (even for $40K) as it lacks the LSD & brakes, while a $52K Z doesn’t...
You’re right. Drops can look good in pictures but there are too many speed bumps and potholes in my state for a car like that not to leave a trail of debris behind it.
I have a feeling that cash-strapped Nissan won’t be giving us a 450hp+ Nismo with substantive carbon fiber parts so they’ll do more of what they did with the Z - spend as little as possible to make it happen so they won’t be able to give us too much more than what the Z already offers. I expect...
Do I detect sarcasm? Toyota can and will do what they want, but what they did by taking a hallowed name and four generations of sports car history and throwing it out the window because they thought it would save them some money was a terrible decision. Toyota never should’ve contracted with...
In the new world where EV sedans are about as quick as (or quicker), and handle nearly as well as EV sports cars, the premise for buying an EV sports car diminishes. It’s mostly about style with handling/braking to a much lesser degree. But when a two-seat EV’s utter lack of utility (one...
Let me start by saying that Toyota doesn’t make a Supra. Just because Toyota got lazy and slapped an ugly suit on the Z4 doesn’t make it a Supra. It’s just a “MKV” for lack of a more polite term. As for the MT MKV, it’ll be an all-around better car than the Z (based on metrics) but I’d never...
It’s a good-looking car, but there’s no doubt designer, Lee, “borrowed” design cues - the entire greenhouse/rear quarter from the mid 2000’s Mercedes CLS550. Will Hyundai have to pay royalties to Mercedes’ for each car sold? Probably not because the rear cut line was changed just enough to not...
Let’s just hope someone at Nissan with taste, intelligence and decision-making powers makes use of the Fairlady Z as a template for the Nismo and/or to use the front fascia on all Z cars as part of a mid-cycle refresh.
I’m also on newnissanz.com and when I saw the allocation thread, this thought came to mind… any Z you see on the road in the US this year will have been bought (in most but not all cases) by people who were willing to pay a ridiculous markup, likely $5k, $10k or more. To them I’d like to suggest...
NSX owners are a very savvy lot and I have little doubt that this automatic NSX was probably not worth more than $40K retail to have been bought for $30K. Remember, Carmax offers to buy your car for a fair price - it wasn’t some sleazy used car guy looking to “steal” the car from an unsuspecting...
While I slowly “got used to” the Z’s “gaping maw”, once Nissan showed off the Fairlady Z’s front fascia, the current “gaping maw” instantly looked like a turd sandwich by comparison. The simple modification of a split grille turned the Z’s awkward front fascia into one of the nicest looking...
