It's an issue on the 370 too, VDC when off still intervenes doing a brake stand burnout and cuts the power, pain in the ass for drags as you can't get heat into the tyres. Can be bypassed by pulling the fuse or bypassing the brake pedal switch. ECUtek is working on a solution for it in their tunes

I'd say it was an emissions thing for an older engine to help and burn off any excess. I've been able to tune a good portion of it out in previous cars so maybe that will be the case with the Z too

Generally warranty is void on the bit you modify and or can be proven that what you modified caused x to fail. If you put a exhaust on and your window wipers stop working then you're still covered, if your cats shit the bed then more than likely it'll get denied.
