Now that would be recognizing your fans/owners! I can see them doing that for a special edition model but for a whole new generation debut they probably want the biggest press audience and stage possible.
Side note - anyone remember if they showed a concept 350Z or 370Z before debuting the...
Too small of a show for something as big as the next Z car? NY show in April would really be more appropriate since its got a bigger audience and it'll be Spring so everyone's minds will be more on sports cars.
Some very interesting info posted here. I have a feeling debussie is right and we don't see anything until possibly 2018. It's been way too quiet. I do hope we get a concept soon so we have some inkling of what is planned for the next generation.
Weird news and only one site reporting on it. That roof is straight off the GT-R. I'd love to see a RWD coupe with backseats. Hotly contested segment though but they've got the technology from GT-R to bring down. I think Nissan could pull it off.
As long as they keep the Z in the line up I will not say they are going soft. The Z is the bread and butter mainstream sports car. I can understand not going after the entry level IDX market which is a tough one to crack.
Nissan has been pushing the race heritage message so I have faith they...
FML! I'm really surprised they are still bothering to pump more into the 370Z right now instead of focusing all their efforts on bringing out a successor model ASAP. Just doesn't seem worth the effort at this point.
Lower weight, price, and size. If they can hit all three of these then this car will be a success. By recent reports it sounds like we'll get the lower weight and size. As for price hope they learned their lesson from the 370z overpricing.
You mean the ones they showed Jay Leno? I doubt they had him look at anything more than just design exercises not any solid plans...at least not on camera :)
Convertible or not, we still have ZERO solid info on what the Z will be like.
Don't be shocked if the Z actually puts on some weight. Stricter safety regulations are no joke, look what it did to the Stang. Add to that Nissan doesn't have a lot of lightweight tech to leverage.
Looking at the GT-R it seems lightweight sports cars are not what Nissan is focused on.
Exactly. Plus the execs have mentioned they are looking at the lower end of the market too with the IDx and maybe another sports car. That means there is a big gap between the Z and the GT-R for the Z to play with.
Nissan concepts have been pretty far fetched lately imo. Not a lot of real production capable concepts, just a lot of design concepts like the Sports Sedan concept and the IDX ones. No one knows if anything will be produced.
The difference of course is the Z is currently in production...
I dont think the mustang or camaro belong in this list. They are not direct competitors with the FRS or Genesis coupe so why would they be for the Z? Price wise it has crept up to the mid 30's starting and optioned up to 45 and up. The Z will get crushed if it prices there IMO.
