  1. Z NISMO discoveries

Well, I've got a CAN bus sniffer built, and I'm still not getting steering angle or brake pressure. I strongly suspect that the CAN gateway under the steering wheel is selectively blocking all but the basic CAN messages that map to OBDII. So it's either directly connect to the CAN bus there at...
  2. Z NISMO discoveries

That would be disappointing. My 350Z was pretty much un-drivable in the wet with it off, I was hoping they had advanced their tech in 19 years. But then again, in the wet even a Yugo has too much power.
  3. Z NISMO discoveries

This weekend's event might be wet, if so I'm going to see just how far Nissan's VDC has come-and see how intrusive it might (not!) be.
  4. Z NISMO discoveries

Updates after the Lincoln ProSolo/National Tour over the Memorial Day weekend: I've written a letter to SCCA (#38493) to officially permit removal of the subwoofer, plastic spacer under the subwoofer, and the styrofoam surround. I can argue that 13.2.K allows for that, but it's good to get a...
  5. Z NISMO discoveries

I thought I'd start this thread with my discoveries I've made about my Z NISMO: My 2024 Z NISMO was 3635 across the "official" SCCA scales with â…ś tank of fuel, and without removing any of the carpets, subwoofer, and rear foam. When in SPORT+ mode starting in Auto shifting mode, shifting using...
  6. Z NISMO weighed at SCCA Red Hills NT

So, I sent mine over the SCCA autocross scales at the national tour, and it was 3,635 lbs with â…ś tank of fuel with Bridgestone RE72RS 285/30R19 fronts and 305/30R19 rears. 435 pounds heavier than my previous 2005 350Z track model with Hoosiers, so not too horrible. Maximum G recorded: 1.4g
  7. Nissan and Honda merger thread

Nissan has come back from the brink before. Honestly, every car company is 12-18 months away from bankruptcy-especially now.
  8. Nissan Exec says 12-14 months to survive

Nissan made a hybrid Altima (Toyota drivetrain) but I don't think I've seen more than a handful of them on the road. The attractiveness of EVs is for commuting-which is primarily California who makes having an EV beneficial by allowing them to use the carpool lanes. States are finding that EVs...
  9. Bumper harness for pop-up hood recall

Damn, the notice came up on mine in the mobile app.
  10. Hello, new Everest White NISMO in Tennessee

Let's set up a time. I drove by your place and your red Z is very nice too.
  11. Hello, new Everest White NISMO in Tennessee

    Congrats, and yes-that was me.
  12. Track or Autocross as first step?

If you can't handle coming into a corner at 60MPH, you certainly can't handle coming into a corner at 115MPH (or, like Portland raceway-150+).
  13. Track or Autocross as first step?

The track guys will tell you that autocross has a really poor "$$$ to fun" ratio, that you get more driving time on the track, and that autocross "isn't real racing." To those who say that I will respond: come try Autocross. Every run is a qualifying run. You have a lot of people who can help...
  14. OEM Nismo 2024+ spring rates?

I’m curious about the spring rates as well. As for the understeer, the front tires are stretched almost as much as the stance guys like. The rears are as well, but not as bad. 275 should be the minimum of the front, and maybe even 285s. Remember, lawyers require understeer because that is easy...
  15. Hello, new Everest White NISMO in Tennessee

Turn it into an Autocross car-but still be able to drive it regularly.
  16. Hello, new Everest White NISMO in Tennessee

On Wednesday, I re-joined the Z community (previously had a 2005 Track model 350Z) with an Everest White NISMO.
