Some interesting facts about base Z and performance model, Jason went through 4 sets of rear tyres in 3 days and the car survived 🤫, lots of 0-100-0 and didn’t even flinch or overheat.
Base model top speed limited to 220km due to spoiler absence.
The overprotective power cut-off points will be pain for drifters but good for daily driving and longevity of the engine.
Steering response may be an issue when cornering and on apex/exits.

No one should sleep on this video. This actually raises some serious drivability issues for me. As an autocrosser or to anyone wanting to push the car to the limit, the Z sounds seriously handicapped.
  • 14:13 - Power cut when braking, no left foot braking. If I'm not at the limiter, I should be the only one able to cut power, not the car.
  • 15:03 - Really invasive rev limiter. Could be a problem when racing at higher RPM's.
  • 17:18 - "Ice Mode" when applying brakes during transitions. This can be very dangerous.
  • 19:19 - Slow steering response everywhere, not just on center. This is unforgivable.
  • 21:27 - Secondary boost bump. Intentionally making power delivery non-linear.
Pretty much all of these issues kill it for me wanting to buy this car. I can live with the high price tag, but this car has too many fatal flaws.

Americans must not know how to drive or something, here I see no power cut whatsoever, and he literally bangs it off the rev limiter multiple times ..I have a feeling all of these cars given to YouTube reviewers were limited. And for good reason seeing as none of them were professional drivers.

Click 'Closed Captions' button then select the settings button and choose 'Auto-Translate' then choose English to translate video.

Id agree these are concerning issues for anyone intending to use the car for auto sports, though I’m still holding out hope that since those cars were still technically pre-production models (hence no dyno runs were permitted) that the final production tune will rectify these behaviors.

If not, fortunately it sounds like they are all software-imposed limitations that tuning products like EcuTek could correct.

I hope it's just a preproduction thing. However, I doubt EcuTek can get rid of the "Ice Mode" issue or the slow steering. The shitty thing is it puts a doubt on the car I was longing to get.

Best way to spend an hr, watch this! đź‘Ź đź‘Ť Big question is, is this still mostly pre-production or not? Too many nannies strangle the Z.

I would be really, really surprised if Nissan kneecaps the car that badly once it crosses into production territory. They know their audience—i.e., see where the traction control button is—and I don't think they'd disservice us like that.
I'd agree if Nissan was thinking properly - but the mere fact that they gave someone like Jason Cammisa a car with all these issues, knowing his driving history and prior reviews (I assume they did their homework?), suggests they weren't and aren't.

I'll caveat this with I haven't watch the video yet. I will later today.

With my experience with the 370Z, you need a pad and fluid upgrade on the Akebono brakes if you're going to be full-on tracking. Depending on the course, you can easily get away with stock on autocross.

If he was referring to the Sport? I would wager with the extra weight of the new Z that the sport is extremely under-braked for any kind of HPDE situation.

Except for Porsche and possible the M cars. No manufacturer builds a car with stock brakes that can handle an advanced or solo track day guy.

fullstop

Even the new Supra needs brake upgrade if you are serious.
If you are twice a year road course event then you should be fine.

My year, 2013, definitely needed more aggressive pads and higher temp fluid, but the new ones are pretty stout from factory.

They are really good out of the box. But if you have to upgrade pads and fluid then my statement from years as a track rat stand :)

I'm saying I did on my old bertha, but you certainly don't have to with the latest 1LEs, and definitely not with the ZL1 1LE. They are track weapons from factory.

Can YOU talk to someone from Nissan to find out the answer? OR is anyone from Nissan on this forum to give us the answers?
