If they can get it to sub 3000 pounds and trim a few inches it will truly be contending for class leading and probably put a hurt on the toyota 86 sales.

I'm shocked the Z and FRS are basically the same length. FRS always seemed smaller to me. Maybe it's the 2 extra inch height.

Yes defnitely the added bulk and height that makes the Z look bigger than the FRS.

Check this out:

I still dont know how they managed to squeeze backseats into that.

Then again... when you sit back there, sad face.

LOL @ that last pic Dantes. The Z definitely looks bloated next to the Scion.

And sadly it's also 400+ lbs heavier. Can you imagine if we got the VQ engine power in a package as light as the Scion.

Should add the performance specs too. Of course the mustang/camaro are hard to compete with when you look at those but man they are just too porky. Look at the weights!

I"m curious how the 370z and FRS are pretty much the same size but 400 pounds difference??
The FRS even has back seats. Did they use some kind of lightweight material?

I dont think the mustang or camaro belong in this list. They are not direct competitors with the FRS or Genesis coupe so why would they be for the Z? Price wise it has crept up to the mid 30's starting and optioned up to 45 and up. The Z will get crushed if it prices there IMO.

Yeesh I didn't realize just how light the FR-S is. That is pretty impressive to make a car under 3,000 pounds in this day and age.

The good news is even the current 370Z is pretty competitive in weight with those competition. Shed 200 pounds and it would be nearly class leading in its performance bracket.

If they keep the Z six cylinders then the biggest competitors are gonna be the Mustang and Camaro. If they go 4 cylinders then the FR-S/BRZ and 4 cylinder Mustang (and Camaro if the next one comes with 4 cyl model).

The domestic brands have stepped up their game in the areas they were most criticized.... more refined, better interiors, less retro overall.

Nissan Z is gonna have to stand out in some way. It will have a tough time competing on power-to-price but I'm thinking a modern DCT and higher quality finishes would be a good start.

How about a Cousin Branded INFINITI with a VQ mounted the correct old fashioned way - RWD ( avail AWD ~ RW Biased )
with room for 5 and some stuff ~ and even more stuff strapped to the roof rack ~ power fold rear seats ( holds mountain bikes ) ~ 7 Sp Downshift Rev Matching AT that can beslapped around manually ~

Sort of a G37 Shooting Brake ~ Assembled in Japan ~ Surprising Sleeper ~ FMS ~ Mechanical Steering ~ Performance Thing

Plenty of these out there in the Used market with lower miles ( under 30,000K ) price in the low to mid $20s - Plenty of Bang for the Buck if you can deal with its looks

For those needing to haul a bit more stuff and more than 1 other passenger ~ it really is a Competitor
