Good question—when does it activate ? It’s not clear in the reviews so far. I’m guessing it’s when you’re flooring it and the RPMs cross a certain threshold. I believe in the 997 Turbo S there was an actual overboost button. Btw I noticed the Nissan slides refer to the GT-R engine as the “VR38DDTT”…as we know it never got direct injection, so that’s clearly a typo…DETT on my ‘24 door sill still…thanks for the technical slides, very insightful. Road & Track kept emphasizing “fast” so I’m wondering if there’s really more power than Nissan is publicly stating. It’s now within 60HP (officially) of the 2008 R35……..so this 5K RPMs of overboost..... does this mean boost is only increased during that peak extra compressor RPMs?
Would be interesting to adapt these Nismo parts to a base Performance 6MT - Tuned suspension, bracing, engine mount, brakes (? or better aftermarket), power enhancements - but at what cost? Probably still much lower than a base Nismo. Wheels, tires, are subjective, as are the aero stuff.
