From the article:
  • "Record Share of New-Car Shoppers Jumped Into a $1,000+ Monthly Payment in June, According to Edmunds."
  • "Although there appears to be a steady stream of affluent consumers willing to commit to car payments that look more like mortgage payments, for most consumers the new car market is growing increasingly out of reach."

I mean it's true. Your average person isn't affording a $1k+ monthly car payment.
“Affluent” pfft

Oh no, I bet there's plenty, if not the majority, of car buyers taking on a loan they really can't afford. It's been this way as long as I can remember. In 2000, I was quoted $600/mo for a new Maxima. That was ridiculous back then.

"Affluent" buyers rarely take a loan, unless it's a lease or 0% financing.

Like I said, your average person isn't affording it. In doesn't mean there ain't dumb asses out there taking on the loans (or at least trying to). Guarantee people aren't qualifying for them based on average salaries coupled with current ridiculous mortgage and rent payments.
