During a trip to the Sydney area (year before COVID on a shocking low $500 round trip Quantas deal), I found beer was very expensive. Hard liquor as well. We ended up drinking wine most of the trip, because it was way lower in cost. Apparently something to do with taxes on certain types of alcohol.![]()

I was in Australia for about two weeks back in 2011 and remember spending almost $20 (US) for a pack of cigarettes.
