because people were shitting on the bridgestone tires on the Z. it will be a direct comparison to the supra since they are also using the tires people were shitting on to see if the performance actually goes down a notch
Again, it would make sense to test them all on the better tires. Still a level playing field, and it would give Z owners a chance to see if better rubber makes a difference, rather than hoping the competition buys worse rubber after the factory originals wear out.

Odd why not put decent Michelin's on all of them? It's down grading the Supra, not upgrading the Z. Most Z owners would buy better tires, most Supra owners wouldn't buy worse ones.
I think the point is to show how much a shitty tire affects performance. They likely have a baseline laptime for the Supra with its stock tires.

Savagegeese has posted photos of the cars being dynoed, should make for an interesting comparison.

Just in case any of the Savagegeese team read this (@dezoris): Can you explore in some detail how the 3 compare re: fun to drive on the street? In particular, is the Z worth the extra $ over the GR86 in that regard?

RE71Rs are still great tires, warm up quick, and do not drop off (cycle out) as fast as the slower warmup PSC2s, I wouldn't call it a step down. Will be interesting on the test results.
