More recently, a chunk of owners are reporting issues with turbo failures, but the data isn't strong enough to suggest whether or not it's due to the turbos being pushed with tunes and other aftermarket modifications. There have been some completely OEM cars with turbo failures, and Nissan's hardware revision on the turbos for the 2019 model year is indicative that it was a failure point in the 2016-2018 cars.
Here's a video tearing down a damaged VR30DDTT engine. Although the failure was caused by oil starvation, he does find waste-gate rattle in both turbos. Is this the issue being reported?

A naturally aspirated engine trumps a turbo all day long including the sound

The only known issues that the VR30 has right now is the belt, and then there was an issue with oil (they said to add half a quart more)

Another small issue is the direct injection, can be fixed with a catch can to help with the carbon build up.

all cars today require a catch can if you want to escape the carbon build up which accumulates quickly and is costly . you can make a setup yourself for under $100.00 .

Maybe if you live at sea level. Average elevation in the 10 western states is 4,950 feet. At that elevation, you're losing about 15% of horsepower without a turbo. That takes a Mustang GT, for example, from 460 hp to 390 hp.

I'm excited for a turbo Z.

Good point regarding SL, will the TC automatically compensate for the attitude ? My understanding is it will but at higher operating temps and higher speeds ! As you are I'm looking forward to seeing the Z first hand in NYC,
