i feel ya...

had an 05 z4...total junk! broke down numerous times right after warranty.
every trip to the dealer resulted in at least a $500+ repair bill.

traded it in for my first toyota...an 05 x-runner. i still have it as my daily.
i have over 230k miles on it. only 2 things ive had to repair were an alternator and starter.
...and all that after 220k.

that is the reason i joined here. i was on the wait list or almost 4 yrs when they announced the "new supra"
or "zupr4" as i like to call it. when i found out bmw was building it on the z4 platform...i said no thanks!

i enjoyed my 04 350z. got excited when nissan announced a new z and...
that it would have a manual...
that it would be turbo...
that it will be priced right...
that it would be "japanese"...
that it would not be bmw...

Are you are on another forum? I just recall someone saying the same thing with their Z4 and trading it in for a 4Runner.

My 04 Z4 with 33k seems to be ok at the moment, fingers crossed. :p

Yeah I'm also not feeling the Zupra. I'm glad it exist in the age of crossovers and EVs and I'm sure it's a great car for others, but personally it's just not my cup of tea.

BMWs are great while they work.
Trust me. I know it, too. Owned a E39 540iA (V8) for 9 yrs.

Anything plastic under the hood broke before 80K.
Got to ride with the tow trucks three times.

Mines went on ok until the 100k mark. After that it became a money pit so I pawned it off for cheap to a flipper that just patch it up and resold it.

I never owned a BMW before, but I was told the E12, E28 and E34 were pretty decent cars. Everything just went to shit after the E39.
