Hello all, thanks for the ad!

Getting used to the new Z, been in the Mustang S550 chassis for the last 7 years. I picked it up this week on Monday.

Got some questions for y'all. Any thoughts/input appreciated.

My dealer had to get this car from another dealer. First thing I noticed was the Nismo lug nuts. Nice!

The dealer already had the windows tinted, so that was nice as well.

Got the car home, it feels quicker than it should. But I don't have any experience with the Z, other than the automatic I test drove. This 6 speed car feels much quicker. Enough so, that I was looking for an underhood tuner or a possible tune on the car but I couldn't find one. But I did notice the Nismo cold air intake is already installed and it has the Nismo gas cap and oil cap.

Ideas, thoughts? The only thing I can figure is that someone asked the dealer to install these parts but then the deal fell through. Seems odd the dealer gave up the car to my dealer without any mention of it.

Anyway, happy to be here and learn more about this platform. I've been lurking here for the past week so I finally made an account today lol...

One way to check for a possible tune is to:
1. Turn ignition on but don't start the car
2. Press and hold the cruise control cancel button on the steering wheel.
3. Watch the tach needle, with the car off it should be at 0, when holding the cancel button if it jumps to 1k or 2k or 3k you most likely have a tune. If it stays at 0 no tune.

As for the lug nut thread engagement if its a 12mm stud the minimum thread engagement is 12mm deep.

Congratulations! I might suggest pulling one lug off to confirm if it is conical or shank style. Nismo lugs are considered aftermarket and use the conical style. The OE wheels use a shank-style lug (flat face w/washer). The use of conical lugs on OE wheels could damage them. At least, this is what the good folks at Z1 told me when I purchased black lugs for my OE wheels.

Thanks! I just went out to the car and tried it and the tach stayed at 0 so I guess there's not a tune. I've had 3 S550 Mustangs with manual trans, the one I traded for the Z was a Mach 1 with the Tremec. The Z feels like it pulls harder. It's making (by my guess from what I've read online) probably 60whp less than the Mach but it weighs probably 400+ pounds less. So it's hard for me to gage lol...

RE lug nuts: I was able to get some factory shank-style replacements today from Advance Auto, the 2 Nissan dealers near me didn't have them in stock. $7 each is what I paid, sheesh. The dealers were $10 and $11. I got the factory chrome because I had to take what I could get. At least I can drive the car now and not worry. @Michael C. were you able to get black lugs from Z1 for the factory wheels?

You can see the witness mark on the cone of the Nismos, jeez...it didn't take much to break them loose, not enough surface contact to provide any friction

Ahhh, I remember seeing those now. I've looked at so many things for this car this week, I can't keep it all straight lol! Thanks for the link! Any pics on the car?
I know the feeling. I got my Z in July and have a full tint, PPF, ceramic coat, and accessories like splash guards, black lugs, Z wheel caps, and a CTEK charger. I plan on doing some minor mods this spring, including AWE track exhaust, Swift Springs, Z1 wheel spacers, and new tires. I got some vanity plates that are coming (SXYRZ34). Here are a few pics.

Now THAT is a good looking car! I like the black lugs, I'm gonna have to do that.

You'll have to update when you do the springs, I'm considering that as well. I think it's gonna look sick!

Thanks! I'll share updates. Join the "The New Nissan Z" group on Facebook if you haven't already done so.

My friend has a S550 6MT and yeah the Z does pull way harder than the 5.0. The 5.0 has a typical NA powerband that has power rising with RPM, as with the Z hits you hard with a bunch of torque early and holds it through most of the RPM range. Also the S550 6MT gearing is such that 4th gear is 1:1 so the gears are longer as you only have 3 gears that are underdriven vs in the Z 6MT 5th gear is 1:1 so you have 4 gears underdriven. When a gear is under driven the engine has a mechanical advantage vs overdrive gears the engine is at a disadvantage thus feeling slower.

as long as your nismo nuts have the wheel adaptors, you should be fine. If not, i'd be cautious, if anything wouldn't drive it till you get those wheels secured

EDIT

AH disregard, looks like you did!
