Mercedes shared the rights and schematics. Jatco is assembling their own identical version. So it is the same transmission as long as the build quality and materials are the same. I would argue there is no difference.

I haven’t researched in depth if any internals are different.

i hope these things have improved since the 5G. the tranny in my CLK500 was junk and failed at 60k.

Nismo is tuning the engine to suite the new Z, so it will come down to how they tune it. It should be pretty awesome though.

Yep its critical they get that right, its the main problem I found in the mercedes benzs i have driven. Have to get an aftermarket TCU tune just to make them right

Is the 9G-Tronic on par with the ZF8HP?

This tranny has been out since 2013. You would think all the bugs would have been worked out by now.

Hunting gears seems to be the biggest complaint when it comes to this transmission.

I spent several weeks driving a loaner Mercedes with the 9g tronic and the car seriously was always hunting gears. Drove me nuts. Now obviously that’s more about tuning than the transmission, but more gears is not always better. Same experience with the 10 speed in the Fords.

I also dont think the info from Wiki is corrected. Im pretty sure the Pathfinder uses the ZF9.
