Was this tested in the same configuration as what Car & Driver uses for the lightning lap? The NISMO Z seemed to do well in that test. It was .6 second off the manual 3.0 Supra.

In the video the Z owner said he flushed his brakes with RBF600 fluid which technically should be a little better than stock Nissan fluid, albeit they're both DOT4interesting they were talking about top speed for the Z on the back stretch being 140 compared the the Supra's 143 because of the brakes. I know the Z NISMO easily matches that 143 of the Supra or even probably as high as 145 because. I hit 140 before even approaching the braking zone in the NISMO. Brakes were much much more confidence inspiring also than the standard Z
pedal going soft on the backstraight in that Z isnt good. the Z NISMO brakes are a major improvement on 5 140 down to 65-70mph braking zones they never once faded but did get a bit of front end wiggle and the started to smell a bit
the total brake loss in turn 1 is scary. the Z uses the same brake fluid as the GTR but the performance pads couldnt hold up.
I think this is the NISMO pad vs the Performance

A lot more surface area on the Nismo pads, that's for sure. It's a nice system. Nismo calipers, rotors, pads are all bolt-on upgrades I assume, not sure if master cylinder needs to be upgraded also. This looks to be the way to go for any tracking.the GTR fluid is pretty good. ive been up there braking from 150 in a 3880lb GTR plus me and a passenger on a 90 degree day and it didnt boil. I think in this case it just wasnt enough pad. the NISMO pad has to have a higher metallic content because it is no lie the most dusty OEM pad ive ever seen even when around town driving
Did that GTR you drove have better brake temp management than a stock Z Performance? When I was at Lime Rock I experienced some brake fade with stock rotors, pads, and fluid. Track temp was definitely over 101F that day.the GTR fluid is pretty good. ive been up there braking from 150 in a 3880lb GTR plus me and a passenger on a 90 degree day and it didnt boil.
