I still really want Randy to push it at Laguna Seca, post some times to compare to the list at fastlaps.Thomas (dude with the beard on Throttle House) is a track driving instructor. They’ve driven many miles on that track and know it well. He ain’t Randy Pobst but the guy can track cars well.
I wonder how many miles on these 2 test cars? They sent the beat up used ones to Canada? But not a single other review has mentioned it so possibly just isolated to these two cars.
As BraveDemon posted above, it got almost unusable. This would be a no question warranty fix.
maybe this is what happens after a bit of abuseQuestion that no one seems to be asking...
Why haven't any of the prior reviews had this issue with the gearbox?
Hagerty did not, SG did not, among several others with the first wave of reviews where they beat up on these cars in Vegas.
I mean they're both front engine RWD sports cars. It's not like they're comparing a two seater to a minivan. Of course they're going to be cross shopped. They already have been. You'd be a fool not to. Minus the gawdawful Camaro visibility, I bet the Camaro is a better tourer too. If you're cross shopping the two, and you pick the Z, you've only done so by subjective metrics. Which is okay. But objectively the Camaro does everything better than the Z. Literally, everything. You have to really want the Z or really NOT want the Camaro (or anything else) to go with the Z.this was the first video where anyone had gear grinding problems, possibly this was a vehicle that had already been thrashed by the youtube influencers learning how to drive stick. The car is what we already knew it was...not a track car. SS/1LE all day long for the track. The Z, a GT car (as they said GT stands for Get off the Track, lol). But yeah, the fact that the Camaro can be had for basically the same price of Z MSRP puts it in the same shopping range, but price is really all they have in common. The Camaro is a fantastic value at it's MSRP, but as many have said the Z is already a stretch at MSRP and these greedy jackals at the dealerships will just make many of us continue to wait or decide against it altogether.
Fair but only applies to the North American market. Here in Australia a new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is priced at $175,000! Well over twice the price of our Nissan Z.If you're cross shopping the two, and you pick the Z, you've only done so by subjective metrics. Which is okay.
All I know about Australia is the toilets flow the opposite directionFair but only applies to the North American market. Here in Australia a new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is priced at $175,000! Well over twice the price of our Nissan Z.
That is correct. The Camaro is imported to Australia and then converted to RHD by specialist companies that it why the cost of them is so high in Australia.I heard from a colleague Camaros are very expensive down under. But GM didn't supply them right? Don't they have to be imported?
The latest Mustang is a global car and is produced in LHD and RHD at the factory and is no where near as costly as the Camaro. It is priced around the same as the Z here and is the Z's closest rival in terms of price. The Supra is a bit more expensive than both of them.I was thinking the Mustang was sold in Australia, however.
Correct…nothing really comparable ….the closest is the mustang, and they have halted orders for now as they have a backlog and are trying to catch up.All I know about Australia is the toilets flow the opposite direction

I don't know what cars are available in Australia, but objectively, are there none that outperform Z's at a similar price? I would think there are. At the end of the day it's not all about performance and what not as truthfully 99% will never be driven in a competitive setting. However, people do want to feel like they're getting the best value for their dollar.
And comparing a ZL1 to a Z, come on! That's just being rude to the Z hehe
Are they though? They're getting these cars when us 'murican's are finished abusing them lol
I doubt they swapped the infotainment units over just for the Canadian media cars. I reckon these were munted at some sort of influencer event that we're yet to hear about. They're getting these cars when us 'murican's are finished abusing them lol
This one:I don't know what cars are available in Australia, but objectively, are there none that outperform Z's at a similar price?
KM/H and M/H can be changed in the settings. Are they though?
I noticed everything in the review was in KM/H on the dash... possible the Canadians also butchered the gearbox before they got a hold of it, but I don't know...
Another thing to remember here is that they openly said (and has been said in other reviews) that Nissan won't let them turn off the stability controls. That would be limiting a fair bit of power coming out of the corners, slowing lap times and also reducing driver feedback.
I think I have read that the full car testing can't happen until end of this month? Probably after launch I guess?
That was the old Gen. 5 Camaro's, the Gen. 6 cars (2016+) all ride on the Alpha Chassis, which is unbelievably rigid for a street car.Funnily enough the Camaro is underpinned by the Australian developed VE Commodore Zeta platform from 2008 as far as I am aware.
