Not sure about Z, but our 2020 Kia Soul owners manual, was dual personality on the matter.

The manual started with this sentence: "No special break-in period is needed." But then proceeded to give a list of break-in activities that could "add to the life of your vehicle", lol.

Among the recommendations for the first 600 miles:
1) Do not race the engine.
2) Keep engine rpm between 2,000 - 4,000.
3) Vary engine speed. Do not maintain single speed for long periods.
4) Avoid hard stops, to allow brakes to seat.

And for first 1,200 miles, owners manual said do not tow a trailer.

Perhaps the engine speed recommendations could apply to the Z?

Check the owners manual! Should have a section dedicated to it. I don't honestly think any of us know, because very few have actually taken delivery (outside of @71zman I think?)

Owners manual says 1200 miles 4K RPM or below. I am at 1000 miles now and have mostly kept to that recommendation except hit 5k RPMs several + times:) It’s a recommendation only and if you break it I really don’t see any reason it would be issue! What car did you get? Proto ? Performance? Enjoy!!!

Here is my recommendation. Keep in mind this is like asking what kind of socks you like, many opinions.

1200 mile break-in
1- Keep engine rpm below 4500.
2- Vary engine speed, no cruise control.
3- Drive more aggressively every 300 miles as you approach 1200 mile mark.
4- At 1200 miles do a hard launch and bounce it off the rev limiter a few times.
5- Change the oil and you’re done.

For reference this is why you change the oil after engine break-in. Its highly recommended to get this debris out of the engine shortly after.
