In early 2000"s, a friend of mind put a Camry V-6 into an MR2 Spyder. It weighed only a hundred pounds more, about 20% more HP, and a lot more torque.

A common swap back then was the Celica GT-S engine. Wicked fast...

I would LOVE for the S2K to make a comeback.

MR2: lightweight, mid-engined, minimal electronics, (maybe Porsche engineering input), a turbo four or lightweight six would be nice.

Yes, please!

I drove three different MR2 Spyders over fourteen years. I kinda liked 'em.

The "new s2k" looks funny with the NSXish front end but the proportion of the car looks great. I hope it does happen as I missed a chancs to own one.

They're obviously completely fake "artist impressions". Someone has just taken the look of the NSX and Supra and squashed them to fit a smaller car.

Have to ask, but why couldn’t someone make something that looks like the last “Tron” pic.
I mean a cars exterior is just the shell, manufacture?

I suppose this is my gripe with a lot of concept cars they look fabulous but come manufacturing time it’s all dialled back.
I get the mechanics of the car, I get not using carbon fibre parts …because of the cost.
But surely exterior design costs if we are talking basic materials can’t change the cost too outrageously

I've seen how much Honda has changed in the past 20 - 25 years and I simply have 0 faith in their ability to launch an attractive sports car with even adequate performance at this point. The new Integra has only reinforced that feeling. The S2000 was just a different era of Honda design.

That being said, I like that 1st S2000 render. With a few tweaks that could be good.
