the stock Z seems to be competent on the track. really hoping some more testing will be done soon with a different tire set-up

Sure looks like a well balanced chassis, even though only a lead-follow event, maybe 6-7/10 pace. The Z can be pushed much harder and really needs better rubber, those tire squeals, ugh!

I wonder what the justification was in kneecapping the car with these tires from the factory. Cost-cutting? Can’t be, because would assume they’d pass that onto us. A relationship with Bridgestone? But they make better options. Perplexing.

A good trick to make crappy/low powered cars appear more “fun” like was done on the BRZ years ago…doesn’t really apply hear though which is odd and like you mentioned, there are better options out there even from the same manufacturer. Possibly an existing contractual obligation to an unfulfilled allotment?

Because most buyers won't ever be using on a track nor illegally boy-racing it around the streets. Those that do do such things will be busily ruining the car in many ways anyway. so will get whichever tyres they want.
