New Performance Z and a new Mustang GT Premium were the final the two I was deciding between a few months ago when I wanted to get a (new) sports car. Prices were similar but quite a few things tipped the scale for me.

I am not a track guy so marginal performance differences didn't mean much to me. I am definitely more familiar with an American V8 however getting something different was enticing. Z won in exterior looks with its retro-elements but it was close, I like the exterior looks of the new 'stang. However the Mustang felt so much bigger and floaty to me.

The final nail in the coffin of the Mustang for me though was the interior. It is absolutely awful. I dislike giant touch screens to control everything and just looked like some kid glued a very long i-pad to the dash (or two separate smaller ones in the lower trim). Never understood the appeal of big thin screens seemingly sticking up out of the dash. Can't beat the sound of those V8's though in my opinion.

Anyways, props to the Z here as there are no more Camaro's, Charger's and Challenger's in this class and taking the W in what is a very American style of racing (drag).

I was surprised by this video. The Z dominated the mustang.

Both seem frankly awesome. I’m sure owners would be happy with either.

I just have the manual Z. I’m a Z man, but can definitely appreciate the sound of those new stangs :)

Very happily surprised! Wishing I could get another Z; maybe next year.
I remember, some years back in my 370 6spd, getting smoked by a GT. LOL.

I keep getting a feeling that the Mustang driver wasn't trying his best honestly. It felt faked to me 🤷
Seen a few of their video's he does go over the top a lot of time with the excuses when he is in the losing car to make it sound like he is fudging what he is experiencing. Who knows.

Interesting, surprised the Z upped the Stang.

Here's just a specs comparison, Aussie: https://www.gleninnesexaminer.com.au/story/8733045/2024-ford-mustang-gt-vs-nissan-z-comparison/

But I'm still curious how a mildly upgraded Performance Z (brake pads, high temp brake fluid, R-comp tires, all else stock) compares to my prev 2019 GT PP2 (stock Brembos, Recaros, Sport Cup2s, etc) on similar conditions, tracks. Still pulling for the Z since it's the lighter animal, just very curious and not giving up yet. Sold the GT since it still feels too big on track.
