The 2022 Nissan Z will allegedly carry a starting price of $34,995, which would make it far more attainable than the GR Supra 2.0 ($42,990), not to mention the BMW Z4 sDrive30i ($49,700), which both have 2.0-liter engines with 255 horsepower. The 370Z replacement will offer a healthy 400 horsepower for the money, besting both the Supra 3.0 ($50,990) and the BMW Z4 M40i ($63,700) with their 382-hp, inline-six engines.

I really doubt any 400hp Z will be $35K or under as base price. It's more realistic in the $45K area and up, and depending on options. The Nismo when it comes out will not be anywhere under $50K. Unless Nissan totally surprises us, and make a killing! Kind of brings memories of when the 240Z first came out, undercuts everything in its performance class.

Anyone else still think $35k is still too good to be true?

Its a 370z will new body panels with a VR30. I think a 5 grand price increase is believable
This. This. This. If they put a starting price above $40k they're smoking crack.

The ONLY way I see them justifying a starting price above $40k is if the car has 450+ HP.

Hmm this thread didn't age very well lol.
Yeah, but the way I look at it is there is so much interest, it’s also one of very few manual options for a sports car…and it’s hot.
Nissan need money, and 5k extra on each one sold could add up for them, it’s still well under the Supra for more in my opinion, so I’m ok with it

I see it the exact opposite way, since the car has now been confirmed to be 40k I just see people and me just buying a different car.

Mustang starting at 35k-ish, the new GR86 starting around 32-35k-ish people are just going to get a different sports car that suits what they're looking for in my opinion.

The 86 starts around $29k. The price increase makes it a little harder for me too.

I'm trying to get something JDM because I'm coming from a 5.0 and wanna go back to my roots of JDM fun cars, but man it's hard to beat that American price to performance.

I'm going to wait on this comparison, the Mustang is a bit heavier with more hp, GR86 much less hp but lighter weight. The new Z with 400hp at $40K, and hope <3500 lbs, may justify itself when performance tested, i.e. a better overall package. Will see...

But, if the Performance trim nudges close to $50K, that would hurt.
