I just did the same. Swapped out my manual trans muffler for the factory automatic trans muffler. Kept the midpipes with no resonators. The car is a little louder than I prefer, but not obnoxious. The best way I can describe this is the car now sounds like the original 240Z - maybe just a little...

I just installed a block off plate. I wrapped the removed solenoid in protective plastic and tie wrapped it to an adjacent bracket still connected to the engine harness.
