This generation of the Z has a history of very poor resale value. Buy used. I say this while totally planning to buy a new 2027 Shikai Green Z. So I’m also not a person to be listened to.

I went to Nissan Crossing last year. It was surprisingly fun. The only downside is that they didn't have their Datsun t-shirt in my size. I'll be going to Ginza again. I'm happy to see they've added the new Z to the showing. Last year that just had the last gen Z 350 on display.

Japan only has a 2.5% tariff on US Cars. They have a 25% tariff on trucks but that matches the 25% the USA has on trucks not made in the USA, Mexico, or Canada (aka The Chicken Tax).

Where did you get the idea that the Z’s final assembly was in California? Nissan doesn’t even have a plant in that state.

Honda is much more of an engine company than a car company. I predict the plan is for Honda to provide engines for both Nissan and Mitsubishi, letting them cut back their product development costs. IMO, it’ll be very interesting to see how the structure of this merger (if it happens) plays...

2025 might end up being a terrible year to buy an import of any kind. Depends on how these forecasted tariffs play out. But hat tip on those picks. Those are three of the same cars I’m considering.

My wife and I have already decided that we’ll debadge the car and put a Fairlady Z emblem on it. We can rely in her family in Tokyo to get us some nice badges.
