I think they need to be cautious not to overstretch in just how 'upmarket' they can go. Chevy did this recently with the Camaro and their pricing has destroyed sales.. to the point now if they don't refresh it quickly or offer heavy discounts I could see it going out of production again. The Z...
Yea just hope it doesn't make it that much more expensive. I won't disagree the Z needs to go on a diet but it might make sense to put these materials into its higher volume cars and have the Z benefit from the economies of scale later. Whatever they do I think Nissan realizes it needs to be...
I don't mean Nissan is thinking internet search terms but it's all part of marketing strategy. The Nissan Z is shorthand for all of the Z cars to date. It's confusing to use it going forward for an actual model when it should be billed as being new and distinct.
On a purely practical note the "Z" is too short and too hard to search for (online). I'm sure they take that into account when naming vehicles. It will also be really confusing since technically all the previous ones could be referred to as the Z also.
300Z gets my vote.
All the talk suggests that the z35 will be a drastic redesign (much bigger than the 350 to 370) not seen in the Z in a long time so I think a concept makes sense. It also buys them time for a production version.
Personally i'm hoping for a big auto show reveal so i might get a chance to see it...
I know I'm asking for a lot but I'd like to see both weight loss and power gain. I know the power gain is guaranteed if they go with the V6 TT but we have no idea on weight yet. The entire industry as a whole is seeing a renewed focus on dropping weight in order to gain performance and...
They're sure to lose a large group of loyal Z fans if that happens. I think this would be a mistake. Nissan needs an affordable sports coupe and unless they plan to go thru with plans for the IDx or another similar vehicle, it doesn't make sense to go upmarket with the Z.
Damn this is great news. V6 TT is perfect and should be a sweet spot in terms of performance and efficiency! 400HP is a nice figure especially if the car drops signifiant weight :)
I agree with almost everything you wrote but we also have to be realistic in our expectations for weight loss. Lots of manufacturers discuss shedding weight in their sports cars (even muscle cars like Mustang and Camaro) and few have made good on that promise. I don't blame them - the amount of...
