Yea the Supra is the halo sports car for Toyota but Nissan has the GTR so the Z will always stay comfortably under it. The price creep on the GTR does give the next Z a lot of wiggle room up top however. I'm hoping they realize it is a better strategy dropping the car's price to the low 30's be...
I think Nissan knows this will be a very popular car even if it will not be entirely well received by hardcore Z loyalists. In the end I'm betting sales will prove this a successful move.
Less weight = more power. It will feel like it at least and that is what will matter to most. All the rhetoric is pointing to a smaller more back to its roots design and I am all for that. Instead of competing with pony cars that have become bloated over the years and required ever increasing...
Wonder how much that render is just someone's imagination. It is pure GTR if so or maybe the IDX but definitely no Z. It's seeming like we wll never see this car :(
Next GT-R isn't due until 2018 at the earliest, so hopefully Nissan has plans to bring out a new Z car before then, or its sports cars offerings will really be stale pretty soon.
The GT-R is more supercar than grand touring car IMO.
Anyhow this rumor confuses me. The IDX design works due to it being a homage to the Datsun 510's three box design. It's a cool retro look but it sucks for aerodynamics. Also can't see the Z looking ANYTHING like that. Even if it went retro...
NA is dead man walking at this point. I don't mind it so much especially if the Z35 is getting a 4 cylinder. Only way to get any power out of that would be turbo.
100% yes
How many people actually put all that power to use? It's all for paper racing and bragging rights. I'll take a lightweight corner carver any day of the week.
I don't see any sketches on there that would make a facelift for the new Z. We need something more of a throwback design than ultra modern and overly concept-like.
I've been beating this drum over and over but NISSAN needs to price this thing CORRECTLY or it will get killed like the previous Z cars.
What can they do to make sure that happens? Limit the options for one. What else?
I'm surprised more people havent paid attention to this video. These design studios are always chock full of hints and they dont exactly try to hide it here.
There are sketches and renders labeled Z35 fairlady, clearly going back to its 240Z roots.
Here are some still shots:
Proof positive that a pretty face can only get you so far. In this day and age you need competitive performance to sell... and not with cars made 5-10 years ago.
I say no to targa top. Nissan faces a real pricing issue right now with the 370Z - it has some stiff domestic competition from the muscle cars that are only going to get worse. The mustang and camaro are both cheaper and being refreshed for even better bang for buck performance.
They need to...
Yes defnitely the added bulk and height that makes the Z look bigger than the FRS.
Check this out:
I still dont know how they managed to squeeze backseats into that.
Then again... when you sit back there, sad face.
