That will all change later in the year. When it comes time to pump the Z, they'll make a big splash. Hyping the car too early with no solid info actually hurts enthusiasm in the long run.
^^ Do that and lose about 2-300 pounds and it will be a smashing success. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a 400+ hp sports car at 3000-3300 pounds at this price point. That's more HP per pound than the cheap domestic muscle.
Agreed. They've already shown a Q60 concept and no Z35 concept nor news. In fact, they just showed a Nismo 370Z convertible concept instead. So that'd be highly surprising if the Z35 somehow came to market before the Q60.

Signs are increasingly pointing to a smaller lighter more basic sports car!
It's gone stale and needs a reboot for sure. I think it's more of an image and marketing issue. The 2014 370Z isn't the bang for its buck bargain that its predecessor was back in the early 350Z days but it is still one of the most capable fully featured sports cars you can buy for under 45-50K...
That's pretty impressive and would make sense. I don't think Nissan has it in them from a business stand point to build a whole new engine just for the next Z.
Really weird. And no mention of it by any Nissan representative either. Usually you hear it teased at least with words even if prototypes haven't been spotted.
“[But] there’s still an audience that wants a six-cylinder engine, so why should we give it up? That’s all part of on going studies.”
^^ It's a weird statement IMO. I'm betting MOST people looking at the Z are preferring a 6 in the car and not a 4 cyl. I hope Nissan's studies show them that.
Yeesh I didn't realize just how light the FR-S is. That is pretty impressive to make a car under 3,000 pounds in this day and age.
The good news is even the current 370Z is pretty competitive in weight with those competition. Shed 200 pounds and it would be nearly class leading in its...
Yea but not exactly a household name as far as the average sports car owner. Maybe in the 1990's but it's become a soccer mom brand in the last few decades.
I welcome this! Especially a cheap 4 cyl version. Just use the 1.6L turbo from the Juke NISMO RS. Good for 215 horsepower and 210 lb-ft. That's plenty enough for an entry level model assuming that the car gets smaller and loses weight.
