I'm hoping it's a lot less than that. A $50k Z is like 20 grand more expensive than what the 370Z starts at now. If they're looking to make an M4 competitor then that pricing makes sense but it'll be moving segment and owner demographics for the car. At that price they might find that people...
Nice hope they stick to to similar timing again for new Z.
Worst they can do is drag it out like Toyota with the new Supra. First Supra concept in Jan 2014 and a second concept coming at Tokyo show in Oct, almost 4 years between concepts. Even if they manage to make the production car by...

I think the new Camaro and Mustang would both be direct competitors, they're also RWD sports coupes at about the same price as the Z. That's a good thing if the Z can appeal to the people that would buy the American pony cars because those cars sell more than 100k units a year sometimes so...
+1 they just came out with the Q60 to battle the M4. Would make no sense to move the Z35 into the same segment. The GT-R still sells well under the Nissan badge despite its high price because the GT-R name carries so much cachet and the car's performance is segment leading.
That'd be fun to see but such a competitive segment with the M3/M4, C63, RS5 up there. Personally I think going downmarket actually makes more sense. There's just less competition there.
Needs to undercut the price leaders (Mustang/Camaro) if it wants to be really competitive IMO. There's little appeal to Nissan right now besides the GT-R so they need to lead on price.
