Sometimes its better to go against the trend. Then you are able to offer something that someone else doesn't. All the competitors going more upscale also probably means that the price is going u too... something I do't think the Z should be doing.

Totally agree. Look at the GT-R name. That's instant credibility right there. Imagine they brought out the next GT-R as some other name. It wouldn't have nearly as much cache and buzz around it.

Yea, doesn't seem like Nissan is in any hurry at all at this point. There's been zero rumors, leaks, etc. Earliest release at this point I think would be late next year, but more likely 2017 sometime.

Woulda been shocking to fully reveal a car like that, with no teasers, rumors, spy pics, etc. I liked that commercial despite its gloomy feeling. GT-R LM and Maxima were both badass looking IMHO

Yea crazy right considering the 370z should really be in its last year of production this year. Maybe they're thinking of extending its model life.

That's good news. I kinda liked the IDX concept but was wondering how the hell Nissan was gonna sell both the IDX and the next Z sports car. Seems these segments already have a limited potential group of owners to begin with. Would have canniabilized each others sales potentially.

It would to me. 4 cylinder only cars are super small and budget. You can't offer only a 4 cyl in a car that will be priced in the same range as some big V8's and Turbo 6's all pushing 400+ hp and expect to be competitive.

Mass manufacturing companies like BMW are starting to develop lighter construction methods with extensive use of carbon fiber so I think we're already seeing more focus on weights. Only so much power you can throw at a car, it'll still never overcome physics.
