Sad indeed. You gotta wonder if the report about a new concept coming in Tokyo is even true. I guess we'll know by October if the Z has any future. If it doesn't show we could just see 2018 being the last model year.. right before its anniversary too.
Didn't someone from Nissan actually say "the next Z" will not be a crossover or something to that effect? I'm just trying to find a statement that shows Nissan is not killing off the Z anytime soon based on their own comments about a next Z car..
When this was first shown last week in one single teaser I wasn't very excited but now seeing all the sporty touches, I have more hope that it might be the sportiest crossover out there.
The next Z wil not have as nice of interior as the new Maxima, but it also doesn't and shouldnt need to. Keep it more spartan, more sporty and race inspired. Too much luxury will add to cost and weight... my 2 mortal enemies :)
All manufacturers are doing this now. Even the new turbo Mustang pumps fake engine noise thru the speakers. You pull the fuse and it goes silent.... facepalm. I'm all about new tech but only if it actually serves some purpose for performance or safety. This is just lipstick...
Love that green render, that would be killer if the next design looked like that. I could forgive the corporate front end because i'm loving the curves on that thing.. those hips!
Agreed and Nissan needs to start showing it some TLC. It seems all they do these days is continue to pump into the GT-R. I mean I don't blame them, it's the only truly exciting car they have and it makes headlines, but can't forget about the bread and butter!
That was extremely early on, the sketch phase, who knows if they even modeled any of these in clay.
Seeing how long these current generation is going for, if that is the refresh cycle they really better future proof it by putting out the lightest, most powerful car that they can within budget.
You know how there's all these rumors of the next Z going smaller/lighter/more efficient?? Maybe the company realized that they needed to go back to the drawing board and redesign the car to be that way to be competitive and future-proof. So what they were previewing in that video mighta been...
> 400hp sounds awesome and all but it's nearly the third month of 2015 already and we haven't seen a single mule or prototype. Very much doubt the Z35 is coming in 2016. And how many auto show reps have you seen talk about a future product and actually get it right? You see auto show rep...
Great, just what the car needs... coming out as a convertible, which typically has an image as a heavy bloated look-at-me car for hairstylists :D
What it needs to come out as is a smaller lighter nimbler cheaper back-to-basics fun to drive sports car. The very opposite of a hybrid convertible.
Judging by the FR-S/BRZ trend and what i've read lately I think Nissan is gonna be super cautious even considering a direct BRZ competitor. Those sales reached a crescendo for Toyota and have started to fall big time.
It's a sexy concept but too big and proportions are wrong for a Z. They have been saying since the beginning this will be more in line with the z fairlady.
It'll be 2015 soon so It feels like Jay Leno was given old info or some major delays have happened.. we'll never know. If they keep building the 370Z they can expect sales to keep nosediving into nothing. Come to think of it maybe that's why there have been so little info on it, so it doesn't...
