The new exhaust design appears to be some kind of helmholtz resonater / sound canceling design. The length of the "H" connection between the two exhaust ports is purposeful to eliminate unwanted frequencies in a certain band. LOTS of thoughts go into that and this exhaust looks much lighter than...
@takemorepills - your description of the Q60 is perfect. Agree too that it’s overpriced. I’m subtly searching for a used one and they are still too overpriced (yes, I know all used cars are priced high)
But my perfect setup is a Q60RS with a Z34 vert but I’ll have to settle for my current set...
I'll never forget people going absolutely NUTS when the new Z33 (350z) was revved up in the loading dock from a port in NJ. The sound was like no other. To this day, I still think the 350Z sound is the best there ever was for a Z (G35 coupe too). However, when I hear this one, it sounds...
Finally got a Z when I turned 56. Bought a 93 NA Z32 coupe with one owner and 77K miles. It now sits in my newly built garage being slowly restored to its near showroom condition. Always wanted one of these, but I was having kids during the Z years. Now that they are grown, i finally got one...
Has anyone else noticed how similar the C-Pillar is between the Z33 and the Z32? I have a poster in my office and never realized how close in design the C-Pillars look between these 2 cars. Not the case for the Z34 though.
Totally agree - think about it. Nissan will not invest in mney for a 2+2 when the Q60 is available. Same platform, size engine(s) and a back seat. There's your 2+2 and I agree with how they handled it. Why slow down a sports car with a back seat?
Excellent video. It confirms my suspicions that the Proto Z is an evolutionary design (which is NOT a bad thing) and will help Nissan save money in this time of struggle. Reuse parts, reuse design and reuse components (rear supsension, Turbo engines, interior switches (climate control)....)
Damn - great looking interior and looks like its well-kept. Hope to get one of these one days, unless they come out with a "New Z" ragtop. Thx for posting these pictures.
You know - i' m drawn to the Porsche Panamera but the cost is out of my league. But this 2 door version of a shooting brake is so damn cool. Very impressive mockup that is pretty reasonable alternative of the Z platform. :fingerscrossed:
I'm with @Ricof529 - will wait for the roadster and keeping my fingers crossed that they produce it. But would love to have a "slick top" in my garage. But this would require selling the 300ZX. Can't have both.
I kept my wheel choice in line with the Z heritage. These wheels came from a 350Z and look great on it. These are 17” wheels and the stock 300zx wheels were 16”
Love your choice of cars!
Not to hi-jack the thread - but would love to hear your thoughts on these 2 cars. How would you compare/contrast these 2 models? Love them both but being 6'2", i find the car to be difficult to get in/out and the seating position is too upright. The 350Z ahs that...
There’s a pretty in-depth story out there that discusses the similarities between these two cars. With the state of Nissan, I can see them not spending much to “redesign” the Z and using a lot of carry over design (Infiniti engine(s), subframes, mounting points, switches, door parts,...)
But...
Glad it’s called just the Z. I never bought into the 400z. Will this forum name change too ‍♂️
But I think us Z-fans, will label the car as a 200Z, 300Z or 400Z depending on options.
Bring on the Z and I’ll wait for the roadster. But I’d prefer t-tops to go with my 93 300 ZX NA
