At least two years away. That makes sense why it's dead silent on the news front.
I hope by "more mainstream" it's referring more to price. Hopefully this isn't about watering down the car - eliminating manual trans, hybrid tech, etc. I'm all for more affordable but sounding suspiciously like...
Good pickup man. Being that the 4 cyl is going into the Q60 sedan I would think it's not an enthusiast type sports car engine but who knows, they could tune it aggressively for an entry Z car I guess.
The 400hp TT V6 would make me happy. I don't see a 3 engine lineup happening so let's hope...
It seems like the leading Z35 forum so far, I hope both car and forum do really well once it is out.
That sucks to hear about the '16 order sheets still showing Z34 but I guess the pessimist in me didn't expect this until 17 anyhow. I'm still circling the Tokyo auto show on my calendar for...
I thought from the Leno video that they WERE saying it would be lighter and smaller. Or maybe just my imagination, those sketch board concepts looked like a return to the smaller Fairlady days.
That should be a piece of cake. The current 370Z has a curb weight from 3232 lbs. With those rumors that they are looking to downsize it some more, it would be plenty powerful with a twin turbo v6 with around 400 horses.
Man the iDx project seems like it was half baked from the beginning. From almost the moment they released the concept it's like Nissan did not seriously consider producing it.
I'm hoping this actually means Nissan has more resources to dedicate to the next generation Z, instead of trying to...
Yea plus the image is so different which counts for a lot when you are talking about sports cars. I know a lot of people who will never buy a Mustang just because it is a Mustang, no matter how euro/asian they make it look.
It's not bad, probably the first time I've ever thought I could drive one. The interiors of the past are complete crap and really outdated design. This new one changes all that for the better but I'm just waiting to see what Nissan has planned for the next gen Z.
Well there are very clear reasons why the 370Z is not selling that they can't easily fix without a total makeover and new platform. It needs to be lighter, more powerful and better priced.
Hopefully Nissan learned these lessons and don't pull the plug until offering up a solution.
Makes total sense if they're going to have multiple engines. Then you can't have a ###Z name based on the actual engine size.
And I don't care how many engine choices they have as long as they have a top end V6 version that puts out at least 350hp.
For a car that sells 7-8K A YEAR thre is not a good business case for 2 engines. Not the first year, not unless there are a lot of good existing engines they can pretty much drop into it without much modification needed.
It sounds ok on paper but really? it's a Kia.
Also I wouldn't make anything of that weight. Its just a concept car and there is no way they will get it under 3000 pounds in production forum.
I mean eventually Nissan is gonna have to bite the bullet and build a new lower cost and smaller sports car platform. There's no way around it unless they just don't want to enter that market.
You can't sell niche sports cars forever and expect to make any money.
