Same here. I would hope they would not wait until then to roll out the new model. Hopefully some of us can be sitting in the new Z when they show off the anniversary edition. Even better show it off along with the next Nismo.
Why change up the formula? It's worked for so long. Moving it upscale doesn't make it any easier to sell cars, probably the opposite. All the 370Z needs is a sexy new look and lose a few $$.
Good point.
I do think Nissan will want to play the whole spy pics and teaser thing with this car considering how long in the tooth the Z33/Z34, in order to maximize publicity and generate as much buzz as possible before the car comes out. I do wonder if they'll eventually put out a concept...
Wish we already saw a prototype spied during testing or something. That would make the car seem more real (I know it is :)) and give a signal that it might be revealed soon.
The 400hp V6 turbo rumor has me real interested again. But I worry about the price. I've seen rumors that the Z35 pricing might be as high as $60k. That'd be moving the Z upmarket to compete with the M4 and that group of luxury sports coupes, which would be out of my budget :(
Do we have any...
So far Nissan seems only interested in the high end market. I don't think they cheapen the Z sports car when all its competitors are going more and more upscale and modern.
Competing with M3 and Mustang sounds great, but pricier than the currently slow selling Z is a tough proposition for a Nissan branded car, GT-R being the exception because of its image and its supercar performance.
I've been posting this all over other threads but for anyone who hasn't seen the news, the Infiniti Q60 concept (successor to the G coupe) was announced with a new twin power 3-liter V6 engine capable of up to over 500hp/tq when paired with hybrid system...
The Infiniti q60 (successor to g37 coupe) is getting a new twin turbo v6 so that's likely what the next Z will get if it shares engines with the q50/q60 like in past.
You might get your wish. The Infiniti Q60 concept specs were just announced to feature a new twin turbo 3.0L V6. If paired with a hybrid system it can even get up to 550hp/553lb-ft.
I don't mind. Nissan needs to bring back the 240Z using a 2.4L turbo for a lower cost.
Maybe then we can see a 400Z simultaneously as well as a new GT-R.
The VQ is long overdue to be replaced by a new V6. It makes less power, gets worse MPG, and is bigger and heavier compared to modern V8 which make more power, are more efficient, and have double the displacement.
Can you tell I hope the next car gets a brand new V6? :D
That's the point. You wouldn't know you saw one if you did :)
I saw a recent set of next generation Camaro mule pics where there was an 80s Firdbird traveling with the group of test cars. It looked weird like it was just a body sitting on top of a non-matching chassis. That could very well have...
No way glass roof makes production. That's a favorite design aspect for concept cars that never make the production car. But a gloss blacked out roof could give you the same look.
These lines could translate good to something short like a Z.
Speaking of pony cars gaining weight I hope that this isn't going to be a case of Nissan hinting that the next car will be smaller and lighter only to have it actually gain weight over the 370... like how the new Mustang somehow managed to gain weight despite being a ground-up redesign.
