Agreed. The Z has more changes, which could warrant a greater price jump. But that's the point I think some others were making, the Z has jumped significantly in price. It's nearly a 30% price increase since last offered.
Theoretically a car maker could keep adding features, and if available...
I'd say rather, there are people who care less or more, in terms of what they spend on vehicles. And that doesn't necessarily mean either type of person has less or more money (or access to credit).
Below is a price comparison I made in an earlier thread. (Because I have an interest in both...
It's also one reason I've been interested in production numbers and capacities. The price hike could indicate Nissan aiming for a lower unit production. Scarcity and price will be two main keys in getting this vehicle or not.
My first gen BRZ has been fine on long trips. Didn't know the GR86 is much different, will have to check one out. Either way though, I tend to like more road feel and connectedness. I'd like to see how the Z ride compares.
Given the first customer deliveries were already pushed back from Spring to Summer, a newish vehicle intro, chip shortages predicted through 2024, and various COVID related restrictions/closures that will constrain things ... Spring 2023 would be optimistic in my view.
Count me as very...
Yes, that's typically how I thought of the distinction. My buddy used to have an old Buick Skylark with torquey V8. I considered that a muscle car. Fast in a straight line getting going. And we took it up to 120mph once, but you wouldn't want to do a lot of turning.
My first car was an old 1965...
Hopefully Z doesn't go south like the Ford Bronco scene. A bunch of image buyers, not even having a real use for the key vehicle functionalities. People buying hopped up, skid plated, diff lock, sway bar disconnect vehicles ... for their weekly pavement trips to the grocery store, lol.
And...
I rarely buy anything without first checking it out. Ideally, I'd like to see, touch, sit in, and drive before buying a vehicle. Does the vehicle fit like a glove, everything come naturally, an extension of how I like to drive and the feel? Hard to know for sure, without checking it out...
Probably Sport Z with maybe 3k in mods:
- Add a rear spoiler
- Swap subwoofer for more cargo room
- diy window tint
- LSD at some point (if having driving issues)
Some of the Performance stuff is overkill. How many people legit need the uprated brakes? (It's not like Nissan installed faulty...
I tried the wired version of Android Auto in our economy car, and didn't like. Wasn't allowing me access to the phone functionality as I wanted while connected to the head unit. Ended up deactivating.
But yes, surprised the wireless functionality is not offered in all vehicles by now. Unless...
I'd be in for a 41k Sport version. But I won't engage in a treasure hunt, deal with a bunch of aggravations, or pay over msrp.
So realistically, I don't see it happening anytime soon. I'm excited about the vehicle, think it's very nice. But not excited about the other stuff that goes along...
