Brock;

I visted a car audio place this week-end. They recommend I talk to someone else who is more experienced with Bose systems.

I did some research and found this interesting article: https://www.caraudionow.com/best-car-amplifiers/

These lead me to this company: These system are installed in high performance EU sports cars.

https://us.audison.eu/products/th-quattro/

Based on my research it looks like Audison and Hertz will provide top class sound but the good stuff is pricey. On the down side all of the amps are class D. This not a lineer design and your ear gets tried of listening to a "step latter".

These amps my be the best sound and there are pure analog. No DSP.

Rockford Fosgate Power Series Review

Not when you how $$$ I am going to sink in this effort.

So, stupid question: you might spend thousands of dollars on new sound, but your source is still compressed.

Can you really tell the difference in clarity, or are you guys going after window rattling?

Donalex; Your question is on target. If you are a musician or audiophile you have the training to hear the difference between A sharp and A flat. Most folks do not care. Easch person can choise the comment level and that'
s OK.

There a performance ceiling in car audio...............source file quality, and engine or road noise. When I update my 350Z sound system I was happy but it did not approach my home system. That was 15 years ago. I do not expect that to change but I do not want to upgrade. Not sure on my budget, time frame will in Winter or spring. ( I have audio mod in the work now so I can not commit to the Z upgrade right now.

I recently took my car down to Car Toys, and ask them about installing Focal speakers in the Z. They said that I would need a higher power amp, then the stock one. I recommended that they listen to the stock Bose system before judging. I am using an Astell&Kern SP3000 DAC, via Bluetooth. They sat in the car, and said that it would take over $7K to make it sound any better. They said that it was the best stock system they had ever heard. They recommended that I do nothing lol. Since my first posting the car stereo has broken in. I’m very pleased with the stock system. My advice is to get a good DAC, as the system itself is really good. ?

Brock;

I have been doing a lot of research and visited Car works in Millersville MD. I am only listen to XM radio right now and the sound is like of my former Nissan Sentra. I need a different source material and Cd are no longer a option.

Replacing the infotainment system in car is no longer as easy as back i the old days! Many issue car evolve! More on that later.

I am looking into a A&K player and ripping my CD and get a tidal subscription. More to come later.

One question, is your DAP player attached to your Cell phone account?

No. It’s a stand alone DAC. Moon Audio has a lot of info on Astell&Kern, as they are one of the main retailers in the U.S. You can purchase music on several websites, then transfer the music onto the DAC. The SP3000 will allow transfers via WiFi. You can also install players such as Tidal. It supports Bluetooth 5.0, and allow you to use it to send music to your sound bar, or play music from your phone. Very versatile. Check out the YouTube videos

So in essence, you can use your phone as a hotspot. Then stream your music on Tidal or Spotify to your Bose car audio.

Ok, here is what my Auto Stereo shop recommends:

Since “CD system are not ready available” most folks will be using there phone or a DAP (digital Audio Portable -aka walkman for digital stored or streaming files)

Mfg are:

Sony

Astell and Kern

Fiio

Caylin

This could be a $500 to $3800K investment.

You can complexly bypass the Bose preamp and amp: and you will not be use the display for the new audio controls.

This means you will be using a “separate blue tube receiver

This one is highly recommended:

Mosconi: AMASLD4C High Resolution BT Audio Streaming Module (LDAC)

https://mosconi-america.com/portfolio/amas-ld4c/

This enables you to bypass the bose sound system but still use the infotainment system and the source selector. These are cost effective coming in a less then $500

The system will have a processing unit and feed two amps.

Amps

  • Amp For Midrange and tweeters; Options
  • JL amp VX600/6i with DSP: 60 watt class D or
  • Helix 60W 6 ch with DSP class d
  • Mosconi PRO1/10 (class A/b)
  • These very from $500 to $2600
  • For subwoofer;
    • LSubwoofer AMP: ink500.1mini 500W RMS Mono Amplifier for JL Audio sub.
  • Speakers – door and dash only:
  • My dealer loves Morel speakers
    • Three teirs Tempo Ultra 602 or Hybrid 62 Hybrid 62, Elate Carbon Pro. $800 to $2900
    • Or use Hertz Mille line full bose replacement (for the fronts car door, and rear speakers.
    • $1300
    • I will reuse my JL 10 inch subwoofer

Complete package pricing which includes parts install and system tuning. (4K to 16K).

I have an Astell&Kern SP3000. It’s around $3800. Once the Z’s Bose system breaks in, and you adjust the equalizer. You will hear an amazing sound system in your car. Trust me! I took mine to a CarToys, and they said that it would cost upwards of $8,000 to equal the sound from the Bose. I Bluetooth the SP3000. Very loud, and low distortion. My car is the Performance version.

Brock;

I just picked up the SP3000. Its a few months old. Excellent shape. It's better then the XM radio sound. The first step in this process; I need a quality "source" to feed the car system. Time will tell if I happy. I am a few months form making a decision on the overall system upgrade.

Thks for your responses.
